045: How to Approach Church Safety with Pistol in the Pulpit Author Tim Rupp

Tim Rupp is a retired Police Sergeant with over 10 years of full-time experience as a Pastor. He understands the need for protecting houses of worship, and is qualified to teach us how. In this episode, he talks about his personal connection to the church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, as well as his book Pistol in the Pulpit, a guide for churches and pastors regarding church safety.

Church has traditionally been a place where we expect our families to be safe from physical harm. We expect families to worship without the fear of being harmed or killed. But things have changed. Many Pastors and church leaders object to having armed and trained personnel, while many others simply don't know where to begin.

In this interview, Tim explains what the Bible says about deadly force protection. He also answers basic questions related to where a church should start in developing a team, conducting training, and offers a few "high impact" ideas that can be implemented immediately and have a significant effect on making houses of worship harder targets.
